People learn they matter when they're needed. I build the programs that make that true.

I'm Dónal Noonan. For 24 years I've built community programs and the networks that hold them. I'm based in New York and looking for my next place to build.

Dónal Noonan

24 years building community programs.

A network of eight organizations across the country.

A volunteer team that grew from 12 to 50+.

Three things I built

Different rooms, same job. Find the people who've been overlooked, give them something real to do, and find the money and partners to keep it going.

Atlanta Homeward Choir in rehearsal

Atlanta Homeward Choir

An arts organization for people overlooked by society. Men, women and young people experiencing homelessness, singing together.

We partnered with homeless shelters and rehab centers across the Atlanta region. I founded it, and I raised the money to keep it going for more than twelve years: I wrote the grant applications and the donor asks, and I reconciled the accounts.

Hired for the music. Ended up running music, liturgy and outreach for twelve years.

I reported directly to the pastor, who trusted me for counsel and to carry people's opinions to him. An assistant and parish staff reported to me. The volunteer team grew from 12 to 50+, and the parish grew from about 400 to 900 families while I was there. I also co-created a graduate assistantship with the Georgia State University School of Music and ran it from 2014 to 2024.

Hired to provide music, ended up providing and receiving a great deal more

I'm from Kilcock, County Kildare, and I live on the Upper West Side now. I believe a person learns they matter by being needed, not by being told. Every program I've built starts there.
